Topsfield Select Board refines FY2027 budget approach for Special Town Meeting. The board reduced the above-guidelines funding request to $123,000 by removing a firefighter position, planning administrative support, and two family insurance plans from the override request. Town Administrator Kevin Harutunian was directed to research the legality of presenting budget cuts rather than additive scenarios.
The board will adopt the May 7 election ballot results as the base budget. The June Special Town Meeting will include three anticipated articles, with one addressing the town operating budget.
