Topsfield Select Board signals operational override for FY2027 budget. The board voted during its March 2 work session to lay out 10 roads for acceptance as public ways and approved three liquor licenses for Alfalfa Farm Cellars contingent on occupancy approval. The board unanimously transitioned veteran services to the Eastern Essex Veterans Services District, contracting for $31,448.55 in FY2027 services with director Steve Bohn providing monthly office hours and house calls.
Retiring Veterans Service Officer Dick Cullinan will serve on the district board through year-end. The board acknowledged that health insurance and pension costs, plus a snow-and-ice budget overrun, will necessitate an operational override in the coming fiscal year.
