Topsfield Finance Committee schedules joint Select Board meetings to finalize budget override language. The committee approved prior minutes and scheduled sessions for Tuesday, May 26, at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. to recommend warrant language and spending cuts tied to the failure of any of three ballot override questions. Michael Koniares will draft a one- to two-page Finance Committee letter by May 27 explaining the warrant and addressing short-term fiscal-year-2027 options and longer-term budgetary challenges.
Committee member Che Elwell stated opposition to reducing the Finance Committee Reserve, citing it as the sole remaining safety net after other budget assumptions have been trimmed.
