Finance Committee backs positive action on June special town meeting warrant.

Finance Committee · Meeting of May 26, 2026

TOPSFIELD — Finance Committee backs special town meeting warrant on split vote. The committee voted 4–3 to recommend positive action on the June 16 special town meeting warrant containing the town operating budget and contingent cuts if proposed overrides fail, with members expressing concern about reserve depletion and the complexity of the motion format. In a separate unanimous vote, the committee approved a letter by Michael Koniares to be included in the warrant.

Approximately $114,000 of the $123,000 in the first override question offsets pension costs that cannot be made contingent on passage.
