TOPSFIELD — Finance Committee reviews fiscal 2027 budgets for seven departments. Chief Neal Hovey and Captain Dan Bell presented the Police Department budget, which includes a capital request for an $86,000 five-year Taser replacement plan and a vehicle trade-in and replacement project valued at approximately $30,000 in standardized equipment transfers. Library Director Dan Tremblay requested $37,000 for an HVAC upgrade with remote monitoring technology projected to save $2,000 per year.
Treasurer Morgan Dwinell reported town employee health insurance costs will rise 12.5 percent and elementary school employee costs 12.35 percent in fiscal 2027. The committee postponed review of Assessors and Accountant budgets until February 23 and approved the January 26 meeting minutes.
